The India-Thai Chamber of Commerce (ITCC) recently celebrated its 80th anniversary with a grand event where some of the Indian businesses in Thailand showcased their products.

In attendance were numerous dignitaries from Thai government and businesses, including Srettha Thavisin, former prime minister; Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, Speaker of the House of Representatives; Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister; Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and Indian ambassador to Thailand, HE Nagesh. Among the top Thai CEOs were Sanan Angubolkul, Prin Chirathivat, Kavin Kanjanapass, Aswin Techajareonvikul, Thapanee Techajareonvikul and Chartsiri Sophonpanich

Insightful keynote speeches were delivered by the Indian ambassador to Thailand, Mr Srettha Thavisin and Mr Aloke Lohia, the founder and group CEO of Indorama Ventures. The ambassador emphasized the economic relations between India and Thailand and pointed out how the current trade between India and Thailand is far from what it can and should be while highlighting the need to bridge gaps in understanding and perception. He pointed out India’s incredible economic growth over the last several years and how Thailand can be a part of India’s inevitable journey to becoming the third-largest economy in the world by 2027.

The ITCC was honored to present a Lifetime Achievement Award to Mr Aloke Lohia for his contributions to Thailand’s economic growth and employment. Mr Lohia has transformed his family business into a top-30 global chemicals leader and a core supporter of the ITCC.
